My name is Carlos Dali, an aspiring DJ originally from Connecticut. I moved to NYC in 1999 on my own pursuit of that dream. Today, I am a mild manner office manager, working to keep up with daily living and on my free time, I usually practice my art to hone in on my skills. Over the course of the years, I have encountered some incredible people, in particular the House of Aviance family. During my adolescent years I'd hit the city for a good time dancing the night away.  I met Mother Juan at the Sound Factory which was the mecca of all meccas where people came together in union for one thing only... "the love of music!" Many gathered here for their weekly sermon and it was one of the most memorable times of my life. This is how we recognized the faithful church goers and carried on having a good time together.  In those days it was the way we built and fostered friendships. I somehow always knew who was who and what House they belonged to and looking from the outside in, I was always amazed to see that type of family unit bond together and protect each other. It wasn’t until after I moved to NYC when Mother Juan invited me to be part of the House. I graciously and humbly accepted. As a newcomer, I was emotionally touched at how welcoming the other members were to me and how they immediately accepted me into their pack. Since then I try to attend all family functions as much as I can and these gatherings are my fondest memories... (and there are many new ones to create!  When the family comes together outside the club scene I really do get a sense of belonging and never feel like an outsider. Plus, it’s a great way to network and meet new people from all walks of life. I strongly believe that there are no coincidences in life. We are all playing out our part in the big scheme of life and those we meet will have some sort of relevance in the growth of our personal lives. Carlos Dali Aviance
